The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei II, honored 10 artists at Manhyia Palace. This event took place on May 23, 2025, in Kumasi. It was part of the 2025 Inaugural Artist Laureates program. The theme for this year is "Our Old Masters."
The awardees include Professor Ablade Glover, Professor Ato Delaquis, and El Anatsui. Other recipients are Francis Kwatei Nee-Owoo, Frances Ademola, Peggy Appiah, and Kwame Akoto. Three additional artists were also recognized.
This ceremony was a collaboration between Manhyia Palace and UNESCO. It celebrated the artists' lifetime contributions to African art and history. The goal is to inspire a new generation in traditional and digital arts.

During his speech, Otumfuo Osei II highlighted art's importance in Ghanaian society. He noted its role among ethnic groups from pre-colonial times to today. He mentioned that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah used art to unify the country.
Attendees included Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi and other dignitaries. They represented the Ashanti Regional minister and various embassies. The event aimed to attract policymakers and art enthusiasts from neighboring countries like Nigeria and Benin.
