Otumfuo says mediation process has brought relative calm in Bawku

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, feels cautiously optimistic about Bawku. He credits the calm to recent mediation efforts aimed at resolving conflict.

Otumfuo led meetings between the Kusasi and Mamprusi factions. These meetings took place from April 28 to April 30. Afterward, the talks were temporarily paused.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to restore peace in the region. Bawku has faced years of unrest and ethnic tensions.

During a visit from Inspector-General of Police Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Otumfuo spoke at Manhyia Palace. He reaffirmed his commitment to the peace process.

“We are still on the matter,” he said. “We will meet again to address issues.” He added that their efforts have brought some calm to Bawku.

The Asantehene promised updates for Ghanaians soon. His involvement in negotiations has been widely welcomed. Many view it as a symbol of national unity and dialogue.
