Otumfuo urges Mahama’s appointees to uphold integrity and serve Ghana diligently

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, urged President John Dramani Mahama's appointees to show integrity and loyalty. He emphasized the need for commitment to national development during a visit to the Jubilee House.

Otumfuo highlighted the importance of truthfulness and service. He warned against complacency and encouraged diligent work for all Ghanaians. “This is a time for dedication, not comfort,” he stated.

He urged the team to prioritize Ghana’s welfare in their duties. The meeting reflected the strong relationship between Otumfuo and President Mahama. They discussed fostering national unity and promoting development in the Ashanti Region.

President Mahama thanked Otumfuo for his support in his political journey. He recalled how Otumfuo convinced him to accept the vice-presidential role under late President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.

Mahama shared that he had planned to leave politics until Otumfuo called him to Manhyia. His wisdom encouraged Mahama to return and serve his country again.

Mahama described Otumfuo as a "national icon of peace." He praised his efforts in mediating chieftaincy disputes and promoting harmony across Ghana.

During this meeting, President Mahama outlined key infrastructure projects for the Ashanti Region, especially Kumasi. These priority projects include:

1. Completing the Maternity and Children’s Block at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
2. Finishing the Accra-Kumasi Highway to ease traffic congestion.
3. Expanding Kumasi International Airport for better regional connectivity.
4. Implementing the Kumasi City Traffic Programme to improve urban mobility.
5. Constructing two military hospitals to enhance healthcare infrastructure.

President Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development in Ashanti Region and beyond. He pledged to prioritize projects that will have a lasting impact on citizens' lives.
