Security analyst Col. Festus Aboagye has accused Ghana’s political actors and institutions of devolving into “criminal enterprises” focused on seizing power at any cost, undermining democracy and eroding public trust.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile, Col. Aboagye criticized irregularities during the December 7 general elections, including relocating result collation for four Eastern Region constituencies to Accra’s Tesano Police Training School—a move he says violates Constitutional Instrument (CI) 127.
He alleged deliberate manipulation, pointing to reports of missing pink sheets, destroyed ballot boxes, and pre-printed ballots as evidence of potential premeditated disruptions.
Col. Aboagye also faulted the Electoral Commission (EC) for failing to uphold transparency protocols, such as publicly displaying polling results for verification. He called for accountability from both the EC and political parties to restore confidence in Ghana’s electoral system.
