Our region is young, we must unite – Minister’s Eid message to Muslims

North East Regional Minister Ibrahim Tia urged Muslims to promote peace and unity during Eid al-Fitr.

He spoke at a gathering in Nalerigu to celebrate the end of Ramadan. Tia highlighted the need for collaboration to foster development and tackle challenges.

"I urge you all to be ambassadors of peace," he said. "Our region is young and developing, facing various challenges. We must unite and work together to overcome these obstacles."

The Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Nalerigu created an atmosphere of gratitude and reflection. The minister's message resonated with many attendees, emphasizing peace's role in sustainable growth.

In another event, President John Dramani Mahama warned against illegal construction on waterways, wetlands, and Ramsar sites. He pledged to demolish unauthorized structures that contribute to flooding.

Speaking at the 2025 National Eid-ul-Fitr celebration at Black Star Square, he condemned environmental law violations. These actions put lives and properties at risk.

"I must address a troubling issue," he stated. "Illegal buildings in waterways cause flooding and property destruction."

He noted that rains are approaching, leading to increased flooding due to blocked rivers. The President also criticized some chiefs for selling Ramsar sites for development purposes.
