The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has serious concerns. More than 1,350 Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers have disappeared from the Tema Harbour.
A committee was set up to investigate this issue. They found alarming procurement breaches over several years.
On Tuesday, March 25, Mr. Jinapor shared a Facebook post. He mentioned receiving a 103-page report on the irregularities.
“The findings are very disturbing,” he stated. Over 1,350 containers are missing from the Tema port, along with serious procurement violations.
The Minister assured the public that law enforcement will act. They will hold those responsible accountable.
“The law enforcement agencies will surely be tasked to hold culprits liable,” he emphasized. This shows the government’s commitment to accountability.
The disappearance of ECG containers raises major concerns about transparency in the energy sector.
