Missing ECG Containers: Over 2,600 Found
The Ministry of Energy has announced a significant discovery. They found 2,637 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana. These containers were previously thought to be missing over the past year.
This number is nearly double the amount initially reported missing. Energy Minister John Jinapor first mentioned on March 26 that 1,357 containers were unaccounted for at Tema port.
An investigative report revealed these containers should have been cleared from the port. They contained essential items like cables and poles for power distribution.
Energy Ministry spokesperson Richmond Rockson shared details with the Daily Graphic. As of April 30, 2025, the Electricity Company had located 2,583 outstanding containers.
Rockson noted where they found these containers. Eight hundred sixty were at Meridian Port Services. One thousand two hundred thirty-seven were at Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority terminals.
Additionally, National Security personnel evacuated 272 containers. One hundred ninety-four were located at Amaris Terminal, and twenty were retrieved from ATLAS Manufacturing Terminal.
