PURC Ex. Sec. visits W/R

Dr. Shafic Suleman, the Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), visited the Western Region for four days.

His tour ended on Monday. During this time, he met with regional management from Ghana Water Limited (GWL), the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and Twin City Energy.

Dr. Suleman also visited Corporate Social Responsibility projects. These included pro-poor water project sites in Mampong Nkran, Abasaa, and Apremdo. The goal was to improve collaboration between PURC and regulated utilities.

The GWL team, led by Chief Manager Mr. Richard Esoun, briefed Dr. Suleman on their performance and challenges. They discussed issues like non-payment of water bills and theft of water meters. Other challenges included damage to pipelines by road contractors and pollution at intake points due to siltation.
