The Public Utilities Workers Union (PUWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC-Ghana) has raised concerns about the government’s plan to privatise the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
In a statement, PUWU revealed that the Energy Minister has formed a committee to advance the privatisation agenda without consulting key stakeholders.
PUWU assured its members of its commitment to resisting any attempts to privatise ECG, emphasizing that they had not been engaged in discussions.
The union urged members to remain calm and vigilant while leadership works to address the situation.
“Stay on standby for further updates,” the statement read, underscoring PUWU’s determination to protect workers' interests amid the ongoing controversy.
