The Committee on Trade, Industry and Tourism in Parliament supports tax waivers for compliant industries.
This is part of the government's plan to boost the private sector and create jobs.
Tax waivers for multinational companies have been controversial. The previous Parliament saw opposition to a $350 million waiver from the former government.
Committee Chair Alexander Gabby Hottordze expressed support for the private sector. He spoke during a tour of Zonda Ghana as part of a committee visit to various industries.
Hottordze said, "We support industries that follow our laws. We back those contributing meaningfully to our GDP. We respect industries that engage many people."
He added, "We may not know your challenges, but we want to help. Whatever you tell us will guide our support in Parliament."
"We will visit you regularly to understand your operations better," he continued. "We aim to champion your cause for tax relief and other support."
Hottordze emphasized the importance of encouraging successful companies to expand. He noted that idle youth could turn to crime without job opportunities.
Yan Yang, CEO of Zonda, also pledged support for women's empowerment by creating more job opportunities for women.
