Parliament has approved GH¢4,443,564,455 for the Ministry of Local Government. This funding supports operations for the 2025 financial year.
Mr. Governs Kwame Agbodza presented the budget on behalf of the Minister. He stated that the funds will address key issues and coordinate local Assembly activities. They will also manage waste disposal entities and implement various initiatives for the year.
During discussions, MP Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah raised concerns about changing Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs from a directorate to an agency. He argued this change could undermine local chiefs' authority.
After further discussions, his concerns were addressed. The budget was unanimously approved by Parliament.
