Parliament has approved the nomination of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah as Minister-Designate for Defence following the adoption of the ninth report of the Appointments Committee.
Despite the committee’s unanimous recommendation, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin raised concerns about alleged omissions in the committee's report, accusing the Clerk of failing to include key submissions made by the nominee.
However, Speaker Alban Bagbin condemned the attack on the Clerk, advising MPs to address grievances through proper channels.
This approval follows Parliament’s endorsement of Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Minister-Designate for Lands and Natural Resources, alongside three regional ministers-designate:
- Tia Ibrahim – North East Region
- Dr. Frank Amoakohene – Ashanti Region
- Akamugri Atanga Donatus – Upper East Region
The newly confirmed ministers, vetted for their competence and experience, are expected to lead development efforts in their respective sectors and regions.
