Parliament approves more than GH¢40 million for Legal Aid Commission operations - Ghanaian Times

Parliament approved GH¢40,260,520 for the Legal Aid Commission yesterday.

This funding is for the 2025 financial year.

The goal is to strengthen the commission’s ability to provide free legal services.

It aims to help the poor and vulnerable access justice equally.

Alhaji Mahama Shaibu chairs the Parliamentary Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee.

He shared details about the committee's report before the approval.

He noted that the Legal Aid Commission faces financial and operational challenges.

This is despite being granted full commission status.

“The indigent in Ghana still need access to justice,” he said.

“Cost-effective legal services are crucial,” he added.
