Parliament has approved six of President’s ministerial nominees, vetted by the Appointments Committee.

The confirmed ministers include Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson (Finance), John Abdulai Jinapor (Energy), Dr. Dominic Ayine (Attorney-General), Kwame Governs Agbodza (Roads and Highways), Haruna Iddrisu (Education), and Eric Opoku (Food and Agriculture).

The 11-member committee unanimously endorsed these nominees during sessions on January 13 and January 21, 2025.

Bernard Ahiafor, Chair of the Appointments Committee, presented the report, highlighting the consensus recommendation.

The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, praised the nominees, particularly Dr. Forson’s potential to address unemployment and Dr. Ayine’s professional background.

However, Afenyo-Markin emphasized the need for accountability and warned against political overreach. The Minority also raised concerns about the lack of regional balance and gender representation in the appointments.
