The Minority in Parliament has been prevented from moving a motion to probe the dismissal of public sector workers hired after December 7, 2024.
The motion, filed by the Minority Leader and two NPP MPs, sought to declare the dismissals unconstitutional.
However, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga objected, arguing that the issue was already before the courts.
First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor upheld the objection, ruling that the motion could not proceed until the Supreme Court delivers its verdict.
The dismissals followed a February 2025 directive from Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who revoked all late-stage appointments, citing governance concerns.
The decision has sparked political controversy, with critics decrying it as unfair and unconstitutional.
