Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has requested a briefing from Ghana’s top security agencies. This request comes amid rising concerns over national security incidents.
In a letter dated April 2, 2025, Rev. Fordjour urged the Committee Chairman to summon key representatives. He wants officials from National Security, Police CID, the Narcotics Control Commission, and the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) for an emergency session.
The meeting is set for Monday, April 7, at 11:00 AM in Parliament’s Committee Room. It will address three major cases that have raised public concern. These include an operation in Sapeiman, significant cocaine busts, and suspicious aircraft landings.
**National Security Cases**
**Operation in Sapeiman:** On February 9, 2025, National Security conducted this operation. They uncovered twelve 20-foot containers filled with gold bars and large amounts of cash.
**Major Cocaine Busts:** In March 2025, authorities intercepted illicit drugs worth $350 million. Another seizure followed soon after, valued at $120 million.
**Suspicious Aircraft Landings:** Two aircraft landed at Kotoka International Airport on March 12 and March 20 from Gran Canaria. The planes were AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B. They allegedly returned to Gran Canaria on March 25, raising concerns about their cargo and purpose.
