Parliament reconvenes today after Easter recess

Parliament resumes sittings today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025. This marks the start of the Second Meeting of the First Session of the 9th Parliament. The recess during the Easter period has ended.

Lawmakers will return to full parliamentary business. This includes legislative debates and committee engagements. They will also discuss pressing national issues.

A major highlight will be the Minister for Finance's appearance in August. He will present the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to the House.

Second Deputy Majority Whip Richard Acheampong spoke to Citi News about today's agenda. He said ministers will make statements on their achievements over the past three months. They will also share plans for the future.

Acheampong mentioned a packed agenda for this sitting, including the mid-year budget review in August.

Before today’s sitting, the Minority Caucus held a strategic retreat over the weekend. They evaluated their performance and outlined key priorities for this session.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin emphasized their commitment to strong oversight. He signaled readiness to lead in the next political cycle.

“We are sending a strong message to our opponents,” he stated. “We will hold them accountable while being a responsible opposition.”

He assured Ghanaians that they are ready to take power in 2028.
