Parliament’s Education Committee begins school, university visits today

The Education Committee of Parliament will begin a monitoring visit today. They will visit selected Senior High Schools and private universities. This includes schools in Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Western, and Central Regions.

Phase one of the monitoring exercise runs from April 28 to May 2, 2025. The Committee plans to visit Chemu Senior High School and Accra Girls' Senior High School. They will also check Achimota Senior High School and Wisconsin International University College.

Joseph Kwame Kumah is the Vice Chairman of the Education Committee. He spoke to Citi News about the purpose of the visits. The goal is to assess facilities, academic performance, and general conditions at these institutions.

Kumah emphasized the need to monitor government projects in schools. They will visit both public and private secondary and technical schools. The Committee aims to understand how the education system is functioning.

They will also discuss challenges faced by students. One focus is on the double-track system's impact on education quality. During their visits, they plan to interact with students and teachers for insights into school operations.
