Parliament summons Ablakwa over deportation of Ghanaians from US

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been summoned to appear before Parliament on Friday, February 28, 2025, to address concerns over the deportation of Ghanaians from the United States.

The move follows a request by Assin South MP, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, who raised concerns about the harsh treatment of deportees in U.S. detention centres.

He urged the government to support returnees through structured reintegration programmes, including job placement initiatives.

Lawmakers are calling for measures to manage migration and assist those struggling to readjust to life in Ghana.
