Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has announced heightened security measures ahead of President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
The decision follows disclosures by Felix Ofosu Kwakye, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, ahead of the much-anticipated address.
Mandated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, the SONA will assess Ghana’s economic landscape and outline the administration’s development agenda.
As part of security arrangements, Members of Parliament must be seated by 9:15 a.m., as National Security will restrict access after the President’s arrival.
Ayariga announced these measures while presenting the Business Statement for the coming week.
