Yusif Sulemana, the Ranking Member on the Trade and Industry Committee of Parliament, has voiced concerns over the government's plan to lease the Komenda Sugar Factory to Indian-based West Africa Agro Limited for 15 to 20 years.
The factory, currently in a test run phase, has struggled with operational issues despite past investments.
Sulemana highlighted that Parliament was not informed of this lease decision and plans to question Trade Minister Kobina Tahiru Hammond, demanding transparency and accountability.
He stressed that the factory's goals remain unmet and that Parliament should be involved in such significant decisions.
