Parts of Ghana to experience rain and thunderstorms today – GMet

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has forecast fair weather for today, Monday, May 26, 2025. Mist, fog patches, and isolated thunderstorms are expected in some areas.

The morning will start partly cloudy across most regions. Mist and fog may form over coastal, forest, and mountainous zones. Cities like Takoradi, Axim, Ho, and Koforidua will likely see early morning mist. This could reduce visibility and affect road travel.

As the day continues, sunny intervals and occasional clouds are expected nationwide. However, residents north of the coast should prepare for isolated rain or thunderstorms.

Areas such as Koforidua, Akim Oda, Tarkwa, Goaso, Sunyani, Yendi, Tamale, Damongo, Bolgatanga, and Wa may experience afternoon or evening thunderstorms. The probability of these storms ranges from 30% to 60%.

In the northern sector, maximum temperatures will rise significantly. Towns like Damongo and Bole could reach up to 36°C. Bolgatanga and Nalerigu may peak at 38°C with possible thunderstorms later.

In southern cities like Accra, Cape Coast, and Kumasi, expect a mix of sunshine and clouds. Afternoon temperatures will range from 31°C to 33°C but will cool by evening.

GMet advises commuters and farmers to stay updated through official weather alerts. Caution is recommended in areas expecting rain or thunderstorms.
