Pastors who preach outside ought to have noise regulation permits – AMA

Violators risk having their public address systems seized Violators risk having their public address systems seized

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has reminded pastors preaching outdoors to obtain noise regulation permits or face penalties.

Mrs. Florence Kuukyi, AMA’s Public Health Director, shared on No.1 FM that outdoor preaching is only allowed between 5:30 AM and 9:00 AM to avoid disrupting residents.

Violators risk having their public address systems seized, she cautioned, emphasizing that many churches in residential areas operate without permits and have been shut down for excessive noise.

Mrs. Kuukyi explained that no permits are granted for churches in residential zones, but some individuals illegally use their homes for worship.

She lamented interference by influential individuals in enforcement and called for better media collaboration to educate the public about AMA’s noise control efforts.
