People will resort to theft if galamsey is banned in my area – Assemblyman

The President of the Ghana Association of Assembly Members for the Western North Region, Frank Ackah Nelson, has proposed the regularization of illegal mining activities, known as galamsey, instead of a total ban.

He believes that halting galamsey activities might lead to desperate measures like stealing, and suggests implementing measures to prevent environmental destruction while allowing controlled galamsey to deter criminal activities and alleviate unemployment in the region.
