Perpetrators of Nana Pooley’s murder will be punished - Kofi Adams

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony took place last Friday. It was held at the Accra Sports Stadium. This event marked the 24th anniversary of the May 9 disaster.

The tragedy claimed the lives of 127 football fans in 2001. They lost their lives during a match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. This incident is known as Ghana's biggest stadium disaster.

The ceremony included several notable attendees. The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Mr. Kofi Iddie Adams, was present. Other attendees included Chief Director Mr. William Katey and Acting Director General Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, also attended. Former chairman of Hearts of Oak, Mr. Harry Zakour, was there too. Additionally, Dr. Delali Anku-Adiamah from Hearts of Oak and Mr. Charles Kwaku Hammond from Asante Kotoko were present.

Ex-footballers and members of bereaved families also attended the event.
