Philanthropist Dr. Alvin Kwabena Ansah, known as Draka PC, has donated items to flood victims in Ashaley Botwe, Greater Accra.
The donation included bags of rice, bottles of oil, and other foodstuffs. These items are worth thousands of cedis and were given to hundreds of residents.
Dr. Ansah made the donation through the Van Calebs Walking Stick Foundation. This follows last Sunday's heavy rains that caused flooding in the capital. The floods displaced many people and resulted in four deaths.
Speaking to the media during the donation, Dr. Ansah emphasized the need for community support. He said helping those affected by the flood is a shared responsibility.
"We all witnessed last Sunday’s events in Accra," he stated. "Many people have been severely impacted, with reports of fatalities."
He expressed condolences to affected families and stressed the importance of supporting one another. "That is why I decided to donate these items," he explained.
Mr. Van Calebs, founder of the Van Calebs Walking Stick Foundation, praised Dr. Ansah's efforts. He noted that many residents urgently need basic items for survival.
"It is a very sad situation here," he said. "Most people have lost almost everything."
However, he remains hopeful about ongoing support for flood victims in Ashaley Botwe. Plans are also underway to assist other affected areas in need.
