The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) launched a decongestion exercise on May 20, 2025.
The goal is to restore order and improve urban mobility in the city.
Key areas targeted include the Central Business District and Circle Neoplan Station.
The operation involves removing unauthorized structures and evicting street vendors.
It also enforces sanitation and traffic regulations.
Accra Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey led the exercise.
He was supported by the Ghana Police Service and National Security personnel.
AMA officials cleared pavements and bus stops used as commercial spaces.
These spaces were blocking pedestrian movement and public transport operations.
Myjoyonline photojournalist Sammy Moore captured images during the exercise.
