Photos: Mahama swears in newly appointed Military Service Commanders

President John Mahama swore in new military service commanders today.

The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Defence. It was followed by a meeting of the Armed Forces Council. They discussed promotions and retooling for the Ghana Armed Forces.

The newly sworn-in officers include Major General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff. Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu is now Chief of Army Staff. Real Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing serves as Chief of Naval Staff. Air Vice Marshall Eric Agyen-Frempong is the new Chief of Air Staff.

Other members of the Armed Forces Council attended the event. This included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Interior Minister Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa was also present.

Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama attended as well. President's Advisor and Special Aide Joyce Bawah Mogtari were also there.
