Dr. Richard Kwesi Bossu, a lecturer at GIMPA Business School, has issued a warning. He highlighted the severe health risks of plastic use. He is calling for urgent action to reduce its spread.
In an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Dr. Bossu urged the public to cut down on plastics. He recommended using reusable bowls and cups for food and drinks.
“Plastics can kill,” he stated. “You need to help yourself—this is a public health issue.”
Dr. Bossu proposed a multi-faceted approach to tackle this problem. He emphasized the need for public education, industry support, and legislation to phase out plastics.
“We need laws to ban plastics,” he said. “Industries must support this change.” Education and awareness are crucial since many people's livelihoods depend on it.
He also pointed out that chemicals in plastic and rubber packaging pose serious health threats.
Dr. Bossu stressed the importance of advocacy and government support. This is essential not only for enforcing laws but also for helping people transition without harming small businesses.
