Please don’t sell state assets to politicians – Ato Forson warns SSNIT board

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the finance minister, has issued a warning. He told the newly inaugurated Board of Trustees of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) not to sell SSNIT assets to politicians.

Previously, the former SSNIT board proposed selling a 60% stake in four hotels. These hotels include La Palm Beach Hotel, Labadi Beach Hotel, Ridge Royal Hotel, and Elmina Beach Hotel. The proposal involved Bryan Acheampong, a former Agriculture Minister. This caused significant controversy.

Ato Forson emphasized that President Mahama will not allow such sales. He stated he would also oppose any sale of SSNIT assets to politicians.

During the board's inauguration, he raised concerns about past investment decisions. He advised against selling state assets to politicians. "The President will not accept it," he said. "As your sector Minister, I will be the first to oppose it."

He expressed commitment to managing trust resources with integrity and foresight.
