A police constable has been arrested for pouring boiling water on a colleague. The incident left the victim with severe burn injuries.
The event took place in Anyaa, near Ablekuma, Greater Accra Region. The victim is identified as Irene Dapaah, and the suspect is Alonsi Elizabeth. They both live in the same rented apartment.
According to a colleague, an argument broke out over who should sweep. In anger, the suspect poured boiling water on the victim.
Constable Irene Dapaah is now at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. She is receiving treatment for her serious burn injuries. Meanwhile, Alonsi Elizabeth is in police custody assisting with investigations.
Some colleagues believe the suspect may have bipolar disorder. They say she often picks fights over minor issues. “She talks to herself and acts strangely,” one source noted.
