The Ghana Police Hospital has announced plans to conduct a mass burial of approximately 200 unclaimed and unidentified bodies currently stored in its mortuary in Accra.

The exercise, scheduled for March 28, aims to decongest the facility and improve conditions for new admissions.

A statement signed by the hospital’s Medical Director, COP Dr. Samuel Otu-Nyarko, urged families of missing persons to visit the pathology department before March 28 to identify and claim their deceased relatives.

The hospital emphasized the importance of keeping personal identification documents updated to prevent individuals from being classified as unknown upon death.

This follows a similar burial conducted on February 25 for seven unclaimed bodies at the VIP mortuary in Bogoso, Western Region.

The deceased included accident victims and individuals who died from crime-related injuries.

Despite efforts by the police, no relatives came forward to claim them.
