Police arrest 2 for unlawful possession and discharge of firearms

The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two people. They were unlawfully possessing and discharging firearms in the region.

The arrests followed a viral video. This video showed individuals firing weapons at a funeral in Attakrom, near Bibiani, on March 14.

In the video, young men are seen shooting their firearms. The Police Command quickly launched an investigation to find those responsible.

In a press statement, DSP Michael Nkekesi announced the arrests. He is the head of the Police Public Affairs Unit in the region. The Police Intelligence Department and Formed Police Unit (FPU) apprehended the suspects on Wednesday, April 2.

The two suspects have confessed to their involvement. The police are now searching for other perpetrators.

DSP Nkekesi urged the public to help capture the remaining suspects. He assured the community that police are working hard to ensure safety and security in the area.
