Police arrest 26 suspects in drug operation at Aflao

The Volta Regional Police Command has arrested 26 suspects. They were taken into custody for drug-related offences. This occurred during an operation on May 24, 2025. The operation took place at the Aflao Border enclave.

According to a police statement, the arrests happened at multiple locations. This was part of a targeted effort against drug trafficking. The goal is to reduce related criminal activities in the area.

Police seized several items from the suspects. These included 20 wraps of what is believed to be Indian hemp. They also found 12 sachets of Tramadol tablets and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. These dried leaves were stored in a rubber bucket.

Additionally, police recovered cash totaling GHC 30,558 and 17,500 CFA. Other items included six drug-infused toffees and eight creams suspected of containing narcotics. They also found 26 compressed parcels of Indian hemp hidden in a fertilizer sack.

The statement noted that the suspects are still in police custody. They will be arraigned after further investigations are completed.
