Police arrest man in Adoagyiri over illegal possession of weapons

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a man in Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Ghana. He was caught for illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.

The suspect is Abdul Rauf Salami. He lives in Adoagyiri Zongo. Police apprehended him on Friday, May 23, around 9:30 PM. His arrest occurred during a police operation at entry and exit points of Adoagyiri.

This operation aimed to address recent unrest in the area. Police recovered two pump-action guns from Salami. They also found 64 rounds of AA ammunition, a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest.

Salami is now in police custody and assisting with investigations. Authorities plan to arraign him before court on charges.

Police assured the public of their commitment to safety in Adoagyiri Township. They urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
