Police arrest man with 92 slabs of suspected Indian Hemp in Akatsi

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Bukari Yakubu. He is accused of possessing 92 slabs of suspected Indian hemp. The arrest occurred during an operation in Akatsi on May 10, 2025, at 1 a.m.

Police conducted several days of surveillance before the raid. They found the slabs wrapped in yellowish material at Yakubu’s home. Officers also seized two Royal motorbikes believed to be stolen.

A police statement confirmed the arrest and ongoing investigations. It suggests Yakubu has been distributing narcotics in Akatsi and nearby areas. During questioning, he admitted ownership of the seized items.

Yakubu is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. Authorities plan to arraign him in court soon. This arrest is part of a larger effort by the police against illegal drug trade and organized crime in the Volta Region and nationwide.
