Police arrest taxi driver with suspected cannabis hidden in fertiliser sacks

Police have arrested a taxi driver in the Greater Accra Region. They found large quantities of suspected cannabis hidden in fertilizer sacks.

The arrest happened on Monday, June 2, 2025. It was part of a special operation by the National Highway Patrol Unit.

The suspect is Ernest Mohammed Adjiri. He was driving a Hyundai i10 taxi with registration number GW 9832-22 when officers stopped him.

During the search, police discovered three fertilizer sacks. These contained 120 slabs of compressed dried leaves believed to be cannabis.

Mr. Adjiri admitted that the items were his during interrogation. He is now in police custody and will appear in court soon.
