Police in the Ashanti South Regional Command are investigating a case. They arrested a 25-year-old man named Yussif Mohammed. He was found with over 200 rounds of ammunition.
Yussif was on an Accra-bound bus from Kumasi. He was arrested on May 8, 2025, at the Asankare Police Barrier. The police noticed a backpack fall from the bus, which caught their attention.
Officers searched the backpack and found various items. Yussif admitted that the backpack belonged to him and was then arrested.
Inside the backpack, police discovered two empty CZ magazines and one empty G3 magazine. They also found two loaded G3 magazines with eight rounds each. Additionally, there were one round of BB ammunition and thirty-five rounds of CZ ammunition.
Other items included 47 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and 97 rounds of G3 ammunition. There were also 16 rounds of red-headed G3 ammunition and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. A bulletproof vest, jackets, a crash helmet, military trousers, and boots were also found.
Deputy Ashanti South Regional Police Commander ACP Cephas Arthur addressed journalists about the arrest. He stated that Yussif is being interrogated for more information.
