A police escort vehicle was involved in a serious accident on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The incident occurred near the police barrier in Binduri. It happened while escorting a convoy of nursing students.
The accident took place around 4:00 PM. The backup security vehicle flipped multiple times and was badly damaged. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported.
The police escort was protecting students from the Presbyterian Nurses and Midwifery Training College. They were traveling from Bolgatanga to Bawku when the accident occurred.
Reports indicate that one of the backup vehicles lost control during the escort mission. Upper East Regional Police Commander DCOP Raymond Wejong Adofiem confirmed this information. He stated, “The vehicle somersaulted several times and was extensively damaged. But we did not record any casualties.”
The driver suffered injuries but received prompt help from local residents. Their quick response was crucial in managing the situation.
Despite the crash's severity, the primary escort mission continued without interruption. All nursing students arrived safely at their destination in Bawku.
Authorities have recovered the damaged vehicle for investigation into the cause of the accident.
