Police release identity of man suspected to have killed UEW professor

Ghana Police Identify Main Suspect in Murder of UEW Lecturer

The Ghana Police Service has identified the main suspect in a murder case. The victim was a senior lecturer from the University of Education, Winneba.

The suspect is Joshua Karry Arthur. He was arrested on May 22, 2025, after the killing was reported.

Police found several personal belongings of the victim with Arthur. The lecturer, identified as Professor Amedeke, had been reported missing by colleagues.

Officers visited his home and discovered his body inside. Investigators found blood stains in the house. They later located the body buried under sand nearby.

The remains have been taken to the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Arthur is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.

Among the items found with him were two phones, a laptop, and a car key for a Toyota Fortuner. He is expected to be formally arraigned soon.
