Policeman accidentally shoots colleague dead at Abeasi

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday, December 15, 2024, when a policeman shot and killed his colleague at Abease along the Prang-Kintampo road in the Bono East region.

The event unfolded during a funeral procession, where mourners encountered a police barrier, leading to a confrontation.

The situation escalated after one mourner allegedly insulted a policewoman, prompting a call for backup.

Upon arrival, the reinforcement team clashed with the mourners, and a policeman fired warning shots.

During the scuffle, the gun discharged accidentally, fatally injuring his colleague in the abdomen.

The officer responsible fled the scene, while the injured officer was rushed to a clinic and later transferred to Techiman Hospital, where he sadly passed away from his injuries.
