A two-day high-level policy dialogue is taking place in Accra.
The event aims to discuss strategies for the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). The goal is to reintegrate these countries into ECOWAS.
Organized by the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP), the dialogue provides a platform for stakeholders. They will reflect on innovative frameworks and mechanisms. These aim to address emerging challenges in West Africa.
The theme is: "Understanding the Geopolitical and Strategic Changes in West Africa: Emerging Challenges and the Future of ECOWAS."
At the opening, WANEP's Executive Director, Mrs. Levinia Addae-Mensah, spoke about increasing fragility within ECOWAS. She noted that this fragmentation creates a volatile landscape. It demands urgent and innovative responses from all involved.
