Pregnant woman, children narrowly escape death on Koforidua–Adukrom road

A pregnant woman and several children narrowly escaped death on Monday, June 2. They were in a Toyota Hiace involved in an accident at Mile 44. The vehicle had registration number GT 5160-17. It was carrying 15 passengers from Ashaiman to Koforidua when it veered off the road. The vehicle landed on its side in nearby bushes.

The cause of the accident is still unclear. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the pregnant woman and children were unharmed. However, several other passengers sustained minor injuries.

Coincidentally, Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey was traveling on the same route. She was heading to an official engagement in Odumase when she arrived shortly after the crash. The Minister and her team quickly assisted with rescue efforts.

They also helped transport injured passengers to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Personnel from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service later arrived at the scene. They have begun investigations into the cause of the accident.
