Prepare for afternoon thunderstorms – GMet issues weather alert for Ghana

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a weather alert. Residents should prepare for isolated thunderstorms this afternoon.

This morning will be partly cloudy and sunny. Thunderstorms are expected from late afternoon into the evening. Coastal, central, and northern regions will be most affected.

Temperatures will start mild, ranging from 25°C to 28°C. Coastal areas like Accra and Takoradi will see partly cloudy skies. In the afternoon, temperatures may rise to 33°C.

Residents should stay alert for thunderstorms with heavy rainfall later today. The northern and middle sectors of Ghana face a higher risk of storms.

Cities like Kumasi, Koforidua, and Tamale have a 40% chance of rain. Afternoon temperatures in these areas could peak at around 34°C. Sudden rainfall is possible, so plan accordingly.

Coastal areas such as Cape Coast, Takoradi, and Axim may experience scattered thunderstorms. There is a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon here too. Temperatures will reach about 32°C but cool down in the evening.

GMet advises people in affected areas to take precautions. Carry umbrellas and stay indoors during severe weather conditions. Check weather updates throughout the day for safety.

Key Advice for Residents:

- Stay updated on the weather forecast.
- Take shelter during thunderstorms.
- Be cautious of sudden rainfall.
- Ensure visibility while traveling; rain may reduce it.

Stay safe and prepare for changing weather conditions today in Ghana.
