The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a warning. The country should expect heavy and frequent rainfall soon. This advisory follows a recent rainstorm that caused flooding in Greater Accra. Affected areas include Pantang, Nsawam, Lakeside, and Kasoa.
Felicity Ahafianyo spoke on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on May 19. She is the Head of GMet’s Central Analysis and Forecast Office. She emphasized the need for public awareness during this rainy period. Residents in flood-prone areas should consider relocating.
Ahafianyo noted that seasonal downpours have already begun. “We indicated that the intensity may be higher,” she said. She mentioned recent heavy rains along the coast and in the Volta Region. These conditions will continue until the major rainy season ends.
She also urged the media to help GMet by sharing weather updates regularly. This will keep the public informed and prepared for upcoming weather events.
