Benedict Ofori Debrah is a distinguished graduate of Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (Presec), Legon. He secured third place in the WAEC International Excellence Award. This award recognizes his outstanding performance in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The announcement occurred during the 73rd Annual Council Meeting of WAEC. This meeting took place from March 17 to 21, 2025, in Monrovia, Liberia. It celebrated the region’s top-performing students.
Debrah achieved A1 grades in all eight subjects. He ranked among the top three students out of 2,455,063 candidates. These candidates came from The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.
He is now pursuing a BSc. in Human Biology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Henschel Tabi Frempong-Manso from Kade Senior High Technical School placed second with straight A1s.
These awards highlight outstanding academic achievement in WASSCE. They reaffirm Ghana’s dominance in education, with two of the top three honorees from Ghanaian schools.
Debrah credits his success to Presec Legon’s rigorous academic environment. This further enhances the school’s reputation for nurturing top-tier students. At KNUST, he is making strides toward a promising future in human biology.
