President John Dramani Mahama has urged the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) to be more active. He wants them to scrutinise government policies closely.
Mahama emphasized that accountability is crucial for national development. He encouraged civil society organizations, including the GBA, to voice concerns about governance issues.
His comments were made during a visit from the GBA, led by President Efua Ghartey. He highlighted the importance of constructive criticism for a transparent government.
Additionally, Mahama called for fast-track courts to handle public fund misappropriation cases. He expressed concern over billions of cedis lost due to financial mismanagement.
He noted that delays in the justice system weaken deterrence and allow corruption to thrive. The president believes swift prosecution can recover lost funds and warn against misconduct.
