Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to prioritize the fight against corruption and abuse of power within the Ghana Police Service. During a meeting in Accra, Mahama emphasized that the police must uphold integrity and serve as a beacon of hope for citizens, particularly in light of recent public concerns regarding police misconduct and inefficiency.
Mahama also highlighted the need for improved working conditions for police officers, advocating for better compensation and resources to enhance their performance. He noted that addressing these issues would not only boost morale but also enable the police to effectively combat crime and restore public trust in law enforcement. The former president’s call reflects ongoing discussions about reforming policing practices in Ghana to ensure accountability and transparency within the service.
