The government plans to build a 3.6-kilometre bridge over the River Afram. This project is in the Eastern Region and includes about 100 kilometres of road development.
This initiative is part of President Mahama’s “Big Push” infrastructure agenda. It aims to boost agricultural productivity, stimulate economic growth, and reduce poverty in the region.
The proposed roads include Mpraeso–Obomeng–Nkawkaw and Abooso–Mpaem routes. Other routes are Mpaem–Kwahu–Adawso, Feyiase–Kwahu Tafo, Ekye Amanfrom–Takoratwene, and Takoratwene–Dome. Additional routes include Takoratwene–Donkorkrom and Donkorkrom–New Kyeiase.
Today, Minister for Roads and Highways Kwame Agbodza inspected the bridge site. He also assessed several key road corridors with a team of engineers.
After the assessment tour in Donkorkrom, Agbodza spoke to the media. He assured residents that President Mahama is committed to improving the Afram Plains.
Agbodza stated that the completed bridge will connect Eastern, Ashanti, and Oti Regions. It will facilitate large-scale agriculture and attract investment in agro-processing.
This project is expected to enhance economic development and foster regional integration. It will also generate income through agriculture and other productive sectors.
