President John Mahama is offering hope to Ghanaian Muslims. He promises lower Hajj fares next year if the cedi remains strong.

This commitment shows his government's dedication to their welfare.

During the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations at Black Star Square, he spoke about financial burdens. Many families struggle with costs when planning the pilgrimage to Mecca.

The President assured the Muslim community that his administration is working with partners. They aim to reduce these costs.

He also announced plans to improve Islamic education in Ghana. He directed the Minister for Education to enhance the Islamic Education Unit's operations. This includes recruiting and training more qualified Arabic instructors nationwide.

Regarding Hajj, he acknowledged its financial impact on Muslim families. Despite efforts, this year's costs remain high, even after cuts. However, he is optimistic about a significant drop in fares next year.

If current trends continue, next year's fare could be around 45,000 cedis. He also addressed long-standing requests from the Muslim community. A bill will be presented to Parliament soon to make Eid al-Fitr a public holiday.

This change recognizes the festival's spiritual importance in Muslim life.
